Below you'll find a brief explanation of each mastery and what it gives you. If you don't know everything about Bleach, that's fine. This will help you get started. Enjoy!
General
[Zanjutsu] Essentially its the skill you have with a sword, how well you can use it and with how much ease. The higher your mastery, the less likely you are to make a critical mistake that could end the battle.
[Shunpo] A high speed movement exclusive to Shinigami. It involves pushing reiatsu under neath the feet to allow super human speeds. The higher your skill, the less steps it takes you to get from point A to point B. Masters can even develop their own custom abilities.
[Hakuda] Hand to hand combat, this can relate to anything whether its practical martial arts or just a unique fighting style. As with Zanjutsu, the higher your mastery the less likely you are to make a mistake.
[Reiatsu] Exclusive to spiritual beings such as Arrancar or Shinigami, its the exertion of spiritual force. Although rarely used in an offensive way, it can be used to hold someone in place should you be strong enough to do so. This mastery determines how well you can control your own reiatsu and utilize it in different ways.
[Kidou] Exclusive to Shinigami, these spells are classified as demon arts. Kidou can be either destructive such as shot of red fire, or binding danku. The higher your mastery, the easier it is to use the spells and cast without error.
[Hierro] Exclusive to Arrancar, it roughly translate to 'steel skin' and provides a layer over their body. The stronger it is, the harder it can be to cut. Mastering this doesn't really provide any other benefit other than becoming stronger and harder.
[Sonido] The equivalent of Shunpo, however rather than using an X amount of steps to close distance, this is more akin to teleportation. It is incredibly fast and has a distinct crackling noise when used. The higher your mastery the easier it is to use, the faster you are, and whether or not you can create a custom version of it.
[Pesquisa] A sensory ability exclusive to Arrancar. This allows them to track a users signal much like a bat uses sonar. The greater your mastery, the greater distance you have of tracking someone.
[Cero/Bala] Determines how well you can use Cero and Bala, a skill exclusive to Hollow and Arrancar. The higher your mastery the quicker you can use it, the stronger it is, and the more potential you have to create a custom.
[High Speed Movement] The humans version of Shunpo, while not as fast it functions in the same manner. The higher your mastery the faster you can travel, and allows you to create variants.
[Reiryoku] Spiritual pressure BEFORE it being exerted and turned into reiatsu. This determines how well you can use abilities that do not involve reiatsu (humans use their inner force, as opposed to exerting like the Shinigami).
[Weapons] Self explanatory, as a human you may use weapons. This mastery determines how well versed you are, and how well you can use them. These include guns, swords, knives, bats, and so on.
[Durability] Your ability as a human to be able to take attacks. The lower your mastery, the easier it is to deal damage and knock you out/kill you. The higher it is, the tougher you are.
[Bringers Light] The high speed movement for Fullbringers. Much like the others, the higher your mastery, the faster and further you can move.
[Soul Communication] The ability to manipulate inanimate objects. This allows you to 'speak' to things like water, rocks, and so forth (example: Ginjo when he moves the water in his glass around, or turns his cross into a sword). The higher your mastery, the easier it is to do these things.
[Ginto] Quincy exclusive. These tubes hold reishi and can be used in various ways, such as traps or full frontal assaults. Your mastery in these determine how well you are at using them.
[Hirenkyaku] The Quincy version of Shunpo, they push Reishi under their own feet and are capable of moving at incredible speeds. One of the fastest high speed movements, your mastery will determine how fast you can move, and how well you can control it.
[Blut] A unique ability for the Quincy, there are 2 versions and will have sub masteries (will not count towards your total number). One of these variations increases your killing power by tenfold, while the other increases your defensive power. Your mastery will determine how strong it is, and for how long you can hold it.
[Reishi] Quincy use reishi to attack, unlike Shinigami who use reiatsu. This mastery determines how fast you can gather it and how well you can manipulate it.
Releases
[Shikai] A Shinigami's first release. This mastery will determine how well you can use your release and how strong it will be compared to others. This can also determine how many abilities you have (writers choice, max of 4). Once mastered, your abilities can no longer evolve.
[Bankai] A Shinigami's final release. This is said to increase your killing power a 100 times over. Much like Shikai, your mastery determines your abilities and how strong it is compared to others.
[Ressurreccion] An Arrancar's release, an evolved version of Hollow powers. This will determines how strong your abilities are, how well you can use them, and whether or not they can evolve further.
[Hollow Powers] Pre-Arrancar, a Hollow has its own set of unique abilities. This mastery determines how evolved they are, how strong, and how well you can use them. If mastered, they can evolve no further, even when they turn into your Ress.
[Fullbring] The release of Fullbringers. This determines how 'complete' your fullbring is. At mastered you have unlocked its full potential. Otherwise, it determines strength, number, and how well you can use your abilities.
[Archery] While not technically a 'release' the Quincy have Archery as their main form of power (this includes Sternritters special powers). This mastery determines how well you can use your unique powers whether it be via bow, or another means.
