The purpose of this thread is to outline the three speeds that are acknowledged for techniques here on the site: Cero, Bala and Byakurai. You may recognize them as techniques from the series and we gauge all of our techniques, kido and projectile powers from the speed of these three core abilities. You will find out just how fast these techniques are in relation to your reaction time by consulting the categories below.
In order to perform point blank dodges of any kind the person dodging must have mastered stepping ability. View the chart below to see how various ranks compare against technique speeds:
Cero Speed-
Any rank and level of stepping combination that exceeds "B-3 and Mastered level of stepping" has the ability to dodge cero speed techniques point blank as the Senior captain, Shunsui, did during his fight with Starrk.
Bala-
Any rank and level of stepping combination that exceeds "B-2 and Mastered level of stepping" has the ability to dodge bala speed techniques point blank.
Byakurai-
Any rank and level of stepping comination that exceeds "A-3 and Grandmaster level of stepping" has the ability to dodge byakurai techniques point blank.

Cero Speed-
- At the Novice level of stepping if there is a distance of fifty meters or more then any rank may dodge the technique when they have sufficient warning of the projectile's presence.
- With the minimum requirements of rank: C-3 and Adept level of stepping, if there is a distance of at least ten meters then the character may dodge the technique when they have sufficient warning of the projectile's presence.
- With the minimum requirements of rank: B-3 and Mastered level of stepping, if there is a distance of at least five meters then the character may dodge the technique when they have sufficient warning of the projectile's presence.
Any rank and level of stepping combination that exceeds "B-3 and Mastered level of stepping" has the ability to dodge cero speed techniques point blank as the Senior captain, Shunsui, did during his fight with Starrk.
Bala-
- At the Adept level of stepping if there is a distance of fifty meters or more then any rank may dodge the technique when they have sufficient warning of the projectile's presence.
- With the minimum requirements of rank: C-4 and Adept level of stepping, if there is a distance of at least ten meters then the character may dodge the technique when they have sufficient warning of the projectile's presence.
- With the minimum requirements of rank: B-2 and Mastered level of stepping, if there is a distance of at least five meters then the character may dodge the technique when they ahve sufficient warning of the projectile's presence.

Byakurai-
- At the Mastered level of stepping if there is a distance of fifty meters or more then any rank may dodge the technique when they have sufficient warning of the projectile's presence.
- With the minimum requirements of rank: B-5 and Mastered level of stepping, if there is a distance of at least ten meters then the character may dodge the technique when they have sufficient warning of the projectile's presence.
- With the minimum requirements of rank: A-5 and Grandmaster level of stepping, if there is a distance of at least five meters then the character may dodge the technique when they have sufficient warning of the projectile's presence.
